Asset или assets — это имущество, активы компании. To strip (в этой связи) переводится как «лишить». Asset stripping — это покупка контрольного пакета акций компании по низким ценам, продажа её активов с целью быстрого получения прибыли и последующая ликвидация компании. Человек, занимающийся этим, называется an asset stripper. Однако к концу 1980-х гг. словосочетание asset stripping стало немодным и его заменило выражение unbundling («развязывание», «разукрупнение»).
